Welcome to the CISE Jerusalem & al-Aqsa: Mirror to the World Curriculum!
This curriculum is aimed at teachers and learning coaches of Muslim students in particular, but may be used by anyone who wishes to learn more about Jerusalem, Masjid al-Aqsa, and Palestine in general.
Introduction to the modules
This curriculum on Masjid al-Aqsa in Jerusalem is divided into six modules that can be used independently in sequence or separately. The topics of each module are as follows:

Introduction to Jerusalem & al-Aqsa: An overview of Jerusalem: location, architecture, and landmarks. Definition of Masjid al-Aqsa.

Islamic Religious Significance: Jerusalem and Masjid al-Aqsa in the Qur’an and the Sunnah; Prophets’ gathering; Isra’ and Mi’raj; First Qibla; Similarities between al-Aqsa and the Ka’bah.

Jerusalem through the Ages: An exploration of the city’s history, including key events and historical figures.

Jerusalem in the 20th Century and beyond: Late 19th century, Ottoman rule, Sykes-Picot agreement, British rule, UN involvement, Muslim-Israeli conflict

Jerusalem: Modern Odyssey through Politics, Conflict, and Coexistence: Discussion of current political and social issues in Jerusalem, including settlements, access to holy sites, and dangers to the city’s Islamic identity.

Jerusalem: Separating Facts from False Claims: Addressing all false claims made by the Zionist narrative about Jerusalem and Palestine.
